ResMed AirSense 10 Error Messages and Error Codes

CPAP machines are becoming smarter with each new model released. The ResMed AirSense 10 is one of those fancy CPAP devices that display an error message. We compiled a list of the most frequent AirSense 10 and AirCurve 10 error messages. This should give you an idea of potential causes of the failure and how to remedy the issue. It is important to note that any time a part is replaced, the machine needs to be calibrated with the ResMed service software. This is included with all repairs at Altra CPAP repair.

Motor life exceeded, contact care provider
This message will display when you reach 21,900 hours of use (5 years, 12 hours per day). That is the design life of the blower motor and replacement is recommended. When we replace a blower motor, we change the blower hours to 0, which will stop the message from displaying (at least until another 21,900 hours). Changing the blower hours can only be completed through the ResMed computerized software. This is just another reason why you should use a ResMed Authorized Service Center such as us!
Power connector at rear of device not fully inserted
This is caused by, you guessed it, the power cord not being fully inserted into the back of the machine. Sometimes the seal around the power input port on the back becomes warped and folded over. This makes it difficult to plug in the power supply. When plugging in the power supply to the back of the machine, hold the front with one hand, and twist while pushing the power supply into the power input port. If this doesn't help, then you will need to have the whole board replaced, so try harder 🙂
Power connector at rear of device not fully inserted
Your SD card has become corrupted. It may be possible to fix this by putting the SD card in a computer (that has an SD card port) and reformatting the SD card. If this doesn't work, then you can purchase a new SD card pretty much anywhere.
High leak detected
This is typically an issue with one of you disposable CPAP supplies such as the humidifier water chamber not being fully inserted, mask not creating a seal, or tubing not connected properly.
Heating system fault, therapy will run without heating
This is caused by either a faulter heater plate or main PCA board.
System fault, refer to user guide
This precedes one of the following error codes
Error 001
This is a hardware issue, caused by either a faulty blower motor or pressure sensor on the main PC board. A part will need to be replaced and unit calibrated to fix this issue.
Error 002
This is a pressure sensor fault. It is possible that the CPAP needs to be recalibrated. If that doesn't solve the problem, then you will need a new main PC board. In either instance, it will need to be returned to a ResMed Authorized Service Center such as us for corrective action.
Error 003
This is a pressure sensor fault. It is possible that the CPAP needs to be recalibrated. If that doesn't solve the problem, then you will need a new main PC board. In either instance, it will need to be returned to a ResMed Authorized Service Center such as us for corrective action.
Error 004
This error message refers to the main PC board being over temperature. This is typically corrected by unplugging your CPAP machine and allowing it to cool down. If you continue to have this error message, then it will need to come in for service.
Error 005
The voltage going to the blower motor is high. It could be caused by the power supply, blower motor, or main PC board. This will need to come in for a free evaluation to determine the exact cause and corrective measure.
Error 006
This refers to a motor stall issue with the software. You will need either the blower motor or main PC board replaced.
Error 007
Error 007, not to be confused with James Bond, is a blower motor fault. This will need the blower motor replaced.
Error 008
Another blower motor related error. This will need the blower motor replaced.
Error 009
This is related to the main PC board, which will need to be replaced.
Error 010
The flow sensor is stuck. The flow sensor is attached to the main PC board, requiring the whole board to be replaced.
Error 011
The flow sensor is stuck. The flow sensor is attached to the main PC board, requiring the whole board to be replaced.
Error 012
The flow sensor is not relaying information to the board. The flow sensor is attached to the main PC board, requiring the whole board to be replaced.
Error 013
The pressure sensor is not reading properly. This can be caused by the device being out of calibration, the sensor becoming dislodged from its seal, or being faulty. If calibration doesn't correct this problem, then the main PC board will need to be replaced. This will need to be sent to a ResMed Authorized Repair Center to be serviced.
Error 017
This is a software data issue. The main PC board will need to be replaced.
Error 018
This is a calibration data error. This is caused by the device being out of calibration. If calibration doesn't correct this problem, then the main PC board will need to be replaced.
Error 019
This error code is not very helpful. It is a non-specified error that will need either the blower motor or main PC board replaced.
Error 020
The flow sensor is faulty. This requires the main PC board to be replaced.
